Mozart and Classical Music site is an offshoot of my lifelong interest in Mozart and classical music from childhood, the stimulation derived from my first Inspired Pen website way back 2001, and from great encouragement and support of Mozart friends from various forums and other classical music groups. Most of them are included in my clssical music friends’ blogroll.

Blogging wasn’t a thing then. This website spotlights classical music from Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque until the late Romantic period, and occasional musical trivia. It aims to share insights, in general, composers, the lives of composers and their music.

And, what is classical music without my lifelong favourite composer Wolfgang Amadéus Mozart? Not that I don’t love other composers and their music… Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Paganini, … believe me, the list is endless.

Among my all-time favourite performers (interpreters) are Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Elly Ameling, Dame Joan Sutherland, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, oh, the list is endless, too.

I’ve also written a piece I’ve painstakingly research by immensely enjoyed – on the divas who interpreted his music in his time, including Catarina Cavalieri and Nancy Storace.

The term ‘classical’ has two primary meanings. First, it describes the music of the Classical Period, c.1750-1830, personified by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Second, it can mean music as an ’art’ as opposed to popular, jazz, folk, or even Christian music.

Quality music deserves more than just casual listening. It is a language of subtlety. Hearing the flow of a concerto or the intensity of a swelling orchestra can create different moods – serenity, excitement and perhaps cataclysm. Such is the power of music. With joyous enthusiasm, along with my musings and reflections, I will endeavour to integrate the lives and music of these greatest composers and their gift of music.

Have a lovely musical day!

    Hello,

I’m trying to locate the full text of the English libretto of The Merry Widow written by Adrian Ross. Could you help me? Thanks in advance.

Have you done a search at Google, Ask Jeeves, and other search engines? My first keywords would be “Adrian Ross” and “The Merry Widow.” Perhaps you can also include “English libretto” but this might not be a good idea; it’s to generic and most likely will return a lot in your search.
